Ahhh.... I love summer; I'm not complaining but I'd be enjoying this summer a whole lot more if it would actually get hot like summer is suppose to be. So far my summer has consisted of a mixture of bus trips, EMS, and lawn care. This past week I basically had no work all week; the first for that in quite awhile. But it was a good week to take the time to ponder the past 25 years of my life and look at the next 25. This coming week I will be in Buffalo, NY and Niagara Falls for another sewing machine convention; I had the same group out to Kansas City last summer for one. And then the following week I will be in Orlando, Florida, driving for the Maple Glen youth group who will be doing some work projects for Wycliffe.
.....what to do with an uncooperative and agitated drunk in the back of my ambulance (by myself with him) drinking the beer that he snuck along in his backpack......
......pull off and summon law enforcement (who end up doing absolutely nothing for us).....continue transport.....chugs another beer (definitely not in my medical protocols).....debate the existence of God with him the remaining 30 minute ride to the hospital….upon arrival at hospital is determined to smoke a cigarette before we take him inside (again not in my protocol)….definitely marked as an exceptional call in my patient care report (can’t wait to here from a state medical director tomorrow after he reviews that report…..
oh....and dare I mention that he wasn't even sick enough for an ambulance in the first place.....

Does anyone exist out there who makes it worth the time for me to do an update?
I have been at SMBI as a student for the past 5 1/2 weeks. It's been a great time. Just a few days left in the term. The chorus will be flying to Romania for their tour. I am not a part of the choir, however I will be driving bus the few days that they are in the states before they fly out. We leave SMBI Friday morning, they have programs in Cleveland, OH and Detroit over the weekend, then they fly out of Detroit Monday evening. Then back to normal life for me again. Though I'm not so sure that I have a normal.
After three and a half years of trusty and faithful service, I gave up my Oldsmobile and traded it in on a Subaru. So far I like it a lot. Even after it suddenly put me in the middle of a cornfield facing the opposite direction as was my original course of travel. Thank God no harm was down to neither I nor the car!
